When sociopath Katsutoshi gets himself into trouble at home, he hides out in Tokyo with his friend Seikichi who runs a slimy brothel/night club in the slums of the city. What Katsutoshi soon learns is that trouble has a sneaky way of following him. Giving an unfiltered and, at times, comical look into the underworld of Tokyo’s criminal elements, TOKYO PLAYBOY CLUB plays like a Guy Ritchie film that occasionally stops for noodles. After Katsutoshi roughs up a young man in a bathroom stall, he is now on the run from the Yakuza gang who back his friend’s club. Unfortunately, Katsutoshi has little time before he must retrieve stolen cash from the club’s doorman, protect the girlfriend of said doorman, bury the body of a Yakuza general, and keep the gangsters from killing him and everyone he knows. Just another Saturday night in Tokyo. The TPC of the film promises, “Boobies … Fondle … Suck,” but this gritty, daring, and comic film offers so much more. (In Japanese with subtitles)
